One year to go.....

1 year to the London Olympic games… the athletes are training, they have goals, there have been milestones along the way, challenges, setbacks, but every day they strive to fulfill their dreams. Their eye is on the prize, they imagine the roar of the crowd, the medal ceremony, the national anthem playing. Each step, each day of hard training gets them closer to their goals and dreams. There is no room for doubt, no time to drop the ball, no time to let their rivals gain an advantage. The next year will be tough but ultimately rewarding beyond expectation .
Yesterdays news, one year to the Olympic games, started me thinking What can I achieve in the next 365 days? The obvious answer was to be finished what I started a couple of weeks ago, my 12 week body transformation. Then, as I was checking my email, I clicked on a link to transformation website showing overweight peoples before and after pics. Earlier that afternoon I had taken my own photos and had an OMG moment is that what I really look like? I played the video thinking it was going to be the usual speel about good food, regular exercise, protein shakes etc, but was surprised when the lady mainly attributed her success to her goal setting and mentality through the challenge. What was interesting was that she said, it is the goals, especially the non-weight related ones that will pull you through when the results have plateaued. Instead of becoming dis-illusioned, you still have something to aim towards that is not weight or measurement related.

It is time to rethink my goals, to have a clear picture in my head of what I want to achieve, of where I want to be. So, when the Olympians are competing and I am watching from my loungeroom, I will also be able to celebrate and be proud of my achievements.
